Myself and my dad are running the ASICS London 10K for Alpha-1 Awareness because We need as much support and give awareness.
This year my dad has decided to join me in the ASICS London 10K run on Sunday 21st July.
We are running for Alpha-1 Awareness charity as my dad has alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency and I was diagnosed at age 21 as a carrier.
Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Definciency is a lack of protein alpha-1 Antitrypsin (AAT) which is produced in the liver. This deficiency can lead to life-threatening liver/lung disease. My dads liver is what is affected at the moment. He is currently under Guys and St Thomas’s Hospital and has to take medication to try and help him with the symptoms. However, there is currently no cure for this deficiency.
Helping this charity is a way to give awareness to others about this definciency and to also help with research and technology needed in finding a cure. Please support myself and my dad in this charity run.
